Welcome to the TheoDoor Project – an extensive repository of ancient Biblical and related texts, along with English translations and numerous footnotes. You can use the five large tables on this page to browse the collection: those files encoded in PDF format (the parallel/annotated ‘TheoDoor’ files, in the left-most table columns) will most likely open up without issue in your browser. How your browser handles the majority of other files (most of which are Word documents) will largely depend on your platform, on the browser you are using, and on your system and browser settings. Most browsers will, by default, download the document(s) to your hard disk, whence you can open them with the appropriate software you have installed (Microsoft Word™ is the preferred program but others, such as Libre Office, will handle them). If you are using Microsoft Edge on a Windows platform, then you will likely see the files opened up as a read-only preview; if you are using Chrome, then you can install the “Office Editing for Docs …” extension for similar behaviour. In both cases, the fonts used to display the text will not be ideal. For a better experience, you are advised to download the entire repository (˜170 MB, circa 760 files) via the link given near the top of this page, then install the fonts provided in the “_Fonts++” folder; or, you can download a zip file of the open-access fonts used here and install those required on your system, so that you can download individual files from this page and then view/edit them locally. |
|
For an overview of the TheoDoor Project and details on the provenance and accuracy of the ‘source’ text files (the Word documents in the tables), please read the OverView and other documents referenced therein. |

Note: Except where the source material has more restrictive licencing, the contents of this collection are released under the Creative Commons CC BY-4.0 Agreement. You are free to use and/or re-publish any of the work, so long as you provide clear and appropriate attribution. |
